Hello all, long-time reader of the mag, first-time poster in the forum. Just recently purchased a mildly rodded 1957 Buick Special Wagon, with factory drums intact on all four corners. Anyone have any ideas on what chassis I could use for a donor for a front-disc conversion? Already have a dual power master installed with a proportioning valve, and the car stops, but at 4000lbs + I'd sure like to have some more stopping power. Thanks!
Hi,did you get any replies to your question? I have a Buick Century 1957 and I have also installed a dual power master cylinder/single booster, but the brakes are hard, so I was thinking of a front disc brake conversion, but have not found any source for this yet.Have you come across anything, and what is the status of your conversion?Bo in Holland
Hey fellow buick wagon lovers.I have just had disk brakes installed on my 57 buick wagon. The guys at Stoked Out Specialties in Rockwall Tx. did the work along with alot of other work on my wagon. I found the ansewer to the brake problem by calling "Disk Brake Mike", AKA Mike Pemberton in Gardenville NA. He sells the brackets and supplies a list of over the counter parts to convert to disk. The brackets are well made and high quality products. the list of additional parts was complete and instructions were also included. I would recomend this method as you maintain all your stock spendles and hubs. Give him a call and I am sure he can take good care of you, at least he did in my case.
