Hi I have a 1969 amx that was totally rebuit about 5 yrs ago the car is a car show trophy winner I will send photos of it, it is painted black rose and has the spoilers and rear window louver on it, right now it has a slightly mod 343 and a m11 auto with 287 twin grip rear end not good enough the suspension has urthane bushings all the way around and kyb gas shocks. What I want is a 360 modified which i have info on. I would love info on where or who I could get good info on 4 corner disks brakes, right now it has power assist drums on 4 corners, kind of different. Also the hardest part is the trans,I would love a 5 speed manual but dont know if it could work, or would or could you connect a 4 speed auto to it? what Iam looking for is 12ets and top speed of around 150mph. The rear end of course will need to be upgraded also. Any info on how or what you would do would be greatly appreciated. I

Some lofty dreams of 12's with 150 top speed with a 360... remember building a car is always a compromise.  Pick a side.. top speed or low et's.  You could do both but you might spend a fortune.

I also think its a dream But Iam very excited about trying to hook a 5-speed manual that is capable of handling app.450 horses to this 360 amc engine. I have decent info on the brakes and rear-end.Has anybody tried this?

I have a good question for you amxlance. So you have a 343 right now and you want a 360 right? Now if I am thinking right all AMC motors are the same. They don't even have small blocks and big blocks. They are all the same size components correct? And you don't have different families like Ford does. So therefore, it's not like a 343 is a sucky motor and a 360 is badazz. My point is, what is wrong with the 343 you have now? 17 cubic inches smaller and that is it. But if you absolutely need to you can make it into a 360 right? Didn't all AMC motors even have the same bore with just different strokes? Or maybe it is the other way around. I can't remember. If I am thinking right again all those AMC motors were pretty strong. I would say that your 343 with an aftermarket set of heads and the proper intake, carb, and exhaust to go with it would make it a real screamer. Maybe a 360 hi-po motor had better heads and intake or whatever than a 343(I don't know exactly myself), but if you are going to go all aftermarket then it doesn't matter anyway right? Just my thoughts. This is also a chance for me to learn about AMC's, which I just happen to like.
