Car Craft should definitly do a LT1 build. I have had my LT1 powered 95 Z28 for 9 years. It has gone from a bolt-on daily driver to a 10 sec. street/strip stroker combo. This platform is very popular and aftermarket support is growing all the time. This subject couldn't have came at a better time as there is a LTx Shootout in the works for April 08'. Go here for complete details LTxShootout.com Car Craft should build a car for the Shootout!

I think that CC should do a build, or two.  Maybe see what can be done with a stock lower end (short block) then build a 383 or larger for max power.

I have a '94 SS that I bought new.  It has a 6speed from BBHP and that's about it.  I'd love to enhance the engine's power, but would like to do so in the most efficient way possible.  I love the car - it get's great mileage, is fun to drive (shift!!!!!) and hauls a lot of aa - well you get the idea.

My wife has a '95 RM wagon that she uses to haul her show dogs and I just got a '95 9C1.  I'd lke to put the LT1 in my '67 Chevelle along with the overdrive auto.

Maybe you can show how to do a stand alone wiring conversion, etc. as well.

I've subscribed to you mag for years and this is the first time I've responded to an article.  I hope that you guys don't choke on this like Super Chevy did... they just let the series drop right in the middle.  That sucked!

Keep up the good work!

I really enjoyed the article about the LT1 in the latest issue of Car Craft.  I've had my 1996 SS for about 6-7 years now.  Its been the vehicle that I learned from and grew my knowledge with.  I would love to see one or more LT1 builds.  With how cheap they are to come by, it'd be cool to make an article about taking two LT1s from a junk yard.  Turn one into a tame Daily Driver with 400'ish ponies, and go buck wild with the other and push it up to 600+.  I'm personally interested in the 400-450 range and the parts that get you there.

Nice to see a mainstream magazine finally showing interest in the GM redheaded stepchild. Hopefully with more exposure the LT1 can get some more aftermarket assistance. I have been working with LT1's since 96 and have been fairly successful with them.It will be nice to see just how much interest your magazine can bring to the LT1. I Second the idea of doing a build for the LT1 Shootout in April '08 or at least a little coverage of the event.  There will be some of the most historical LT1's in attendence. Hope you can be there.

if you need feedback on mods, there are tonnes of LT1 junkies that have been down this road.

Need an Article on the 94-96 ImpalaSS/B-Body cars..and how easy they are to modify. Our Cars give Mustangs and Mauraders a tough time.

I race in s series called ECIRS. Along with our Bracket Racing Point Meets we have heads up classes. All the Stock Cam guys run in the BoltOn Class. There is a Heads Cams and Ultimate for the modded cars. One car is dancing with the 8 second range.

FWIW the BoltOn Class are close to IHRA Pure Stcok Eliminator Rules.
Most are in the 13's even in hot miserable weather.
Some are in the low 13's.
BUT the Record is held by Pat Kish as 12.37sec ET in a full bodied ImpalaSS.

The vast majority of or cars are Daily Drivers.
Drive to the track, race and go home.

Car Carft needs to take a look at us more closely.

ECIRS racer quote...."The vast majority of or cars are Daily Drivers.
Drive to the track, race and go home."

A majority are that.  But many are doing it the "easy" way, (like me).   We drive the car off the trailer and directly to the tech line.  <chuckle>

Anyway, I see already in Camaroz28.com and LS1tech.com that the LT1 Fbody enthusiests are loving the Car Craft attention.   I hope CC gets quite a few new subscribers for the effort and good work.   The ImpalaSSforum.com is also buzzing now that CC is giving attention to the LT1, (with hope of future build-ups).

As with GM High Tech Performance magazine....I don't care how small or how big the mods or engine build may be.  I love any and all news about the LT1, (and of any car that came with an LT1 and of any transplant of the LT1 into a '66 Nova or 86' Caprice Classic).

I hope you don't forget to show your building and tuning mistakes when editing.  That's the most fun thing to read about, (the human side).

I second the vote for 400-450HP. (ok, more to the side of 450 ) It might also be a good thing to talk about how to build the LT1 for various vehicle weight. It's one thing to push a hefty Impala, Caprice, Chevelle vs. in a Camaro, Corvette, or Nova.

I agree that cc should do an lt1 build, i recently bought a 94 Z/28, and was wondering on a tight budget the best bang for the buck is!

It would deffinately be nice to get some LT1 love! Im realy getting tired of LS1 this LSx that. To me nothing sounds as nasty as a big cubic inch LT1 with a nice cam. plus it would be nice to have a guide for beginning LT1 owners to fallow as the LT1 style fbodies are starting to get into the hands of younger and younger enthusiest.  So give us some love CC!!

Car Craft should definitly do a LT1 build. With the markets trend of building everything with a LSx, it is nice to see that magazines haven't forgotten about the LT1. We have done numerous builds and see there is still alot of interest in the LT1 platform.

I would love to see some articles on an LT1 build.  I have a LT1 397 sitting in my garage.  Unfortunately, I spent more than I ever imagined on the engine, so now it has to sit in the corner til I can save up more money.  I am tired that everywhere I go all they want to talk about is the LSx engines.  I would love to see articles on the 95 Z28 being set up for a street/strip car.

I just renewed my subscription after reading the LT1 article, thank you! I have had a LT1 engine complete with a Paxton supercharger in a crate in the garage for 3 years. I was thinking about swapping the 350 chevy out of my Total P.T-Bucket and want to learn more about the LT1.Do the headers swap? Tranny? I don't care about speed, I want to shake the sidewalk sitting still. Thanks again for all small block info.                "Shakeum"
