Hey Folk - I would love to see a buildup for the LT1, I bought one over the summer for my 87 Monte Carlo SS.
Maybe both an EFI and carburetor build?? The LT1 I bought was missing all the EFI electronics, I also wanted it to look like it came as an option for the SS. I bought the GM performance carb manifold and the hot cam kit pn# 12480002. How about a cheap build or something along those lines, keep up the good work!

See my other thread: http://forums.carcraft.com/70/6466050/car-craft-magazine/lt1-article-january-08-issue-give-me-more/index.html

Looks like there is a lot of interest in building the LT1 - so let's get CC to write more on this engine!

Having built and worked on several carbureted engines, I'm personally taking the plunge by stuffing the fuel injection in my 69 Nova. I must admit I am WAY more comfortable with a carb, but carbs have their downfalls. The EFI gets better gas mileage, power, driveablity, and makes the engine last longer by atomizing the fuel better for more complete burn. Plus, with EFI, that *** thing will always kick over the first time - every time. No more looking like a dummy when pumping the gas, trying to get it started, and having flames shoot out from under the hood.

So yeah, I'd be interested to see the comparison between a LT1 carb'ed engine vs fuel injection. But I think most people would agree that the main advantage of the LT1 is that it is fuel injected from the factory and that is what sets it apart from the Gen 1 engines.

Best of luck in your build! Build it fast, build it cheap.

More LT1 Write ups!!!

I wanna know what in the world happened to your 1996 Chevy Caprice 9C1.  You did some dyno pulls, added some bolt-ons, then the thing dropped off the face of the earth.  BRING IT BACK!!!!  Add some more stuff to it, and flog the crap outta it on the dyno!  Then hit it with a N2O shot, and see what it's got in it at the strip.
