Hey all.  There's a lot of events happening this time of year.  It seems like everyone is trying to squeeze stuff in before it gets cold.  Here's what's going on in SoCal this weekend:
The Hot Rod Reunion is at Famoso Raceway in Bakersfield tomorrow thru Sunday.
The Pomona Swap Meet happens this Sunday morning
There's a All Chevy show in Tustin (Orange County)
And there's some cruise thing happening in Santa Clarita on Saturday.

Also if you're into planes, there's an air show at Miramir this weekend!!!

Check Drive Magazine on line for a listing of events in your area.

What are your plans for the weekend?  Hope it involves cars!!

Yeah, it will involve cars. I will be driving one for work. Exciting, huh? I'm a lil surly about not being able to go to Famoso.

I will, however, will be roadtripping the Impala to NorCal for a birthday celebration on Monday. Is a thousand miles in four days good enough to qualify?

So now that its Sunday what did y'all accomplish?

I got my Cougar back on the road after a being stuck with a bad U Joint munching habit for the last few months. So far its better, but ill give it a few weeks of use before i call it 'fixed'.

While the driveshaft was down and a few other things were out of the way i dropped in (or is it popped up?) a 3.89 Detroit Locker third member that i had in my Galaxie. I sold the Galaxie and for the price i sold it for, the locker wasnt going with it. Im still not used to the popping and gear chatter. The Galazie was so loud i couldnt hear any of it, but the Cougar is another story.

So thats my weekend. Something was actually accomplished.

Friday was nice weather not too hot, made 8 passes at the Test-n-Tune testing various on shock and tire pressure settings.  First pass right lane using my baseline was 7.40 with  a 1.663 60', last pass right lane 3 hours later after return to base line was 7.39 with a 1.658 60'.  The Mustang ran 7.88 best with most 7.90s.  She only made like 4 passes and took a bunch of pictures.

Grandson had a flag football game Saturday morning.  It was the "Pecan Festival" in that town (Clyde Tx) and they had a car show.  Mom and Grandma went elsewhere after the game and grandson and I took in the car show.  Nice mix of cars, from trucks to rice cakes, race cars and old iron.  Saw some folks we know from the track.  Wished I'd known about it ahead of time and had more time, I would have brought the Falcon.  We had a good time.  He likes the "fire cars" - the ones with flames.

Sunday started working on fitting a light weight racing seat into the wife's Mustang racer.  I'm using a Jaz slider kit.  Lots of cutting, drilling, measuring, cussing - fun stuff.  Mounted in nearly the stock location, she can probably get in easy with the seat all the way back and I might tweak something trying.  So there may be more fab work required.  I have to at least be able to sit in it and putt around for maintenance work.  The Mustang seat pan design doesn't make it any easier.  Cool thing - the Jaz slider assemblies drop right in the stock Mustang seat mount holes in the floorboard.  Uncool thing - the left mount sits too close the the rocker panel to use the slider release.  Test fitting with the driver tonight.
