This is short notice, but the Newport Hill Climb is taking place this weekend October6-7 in Newport, Indiana. It's the third largest motor sports event in Indiana behind the Indy 500 and the Brickyard 400. There is a big car show, a flea market, and timed runs up the fabled Newport hill. Everything from Model t's, to early V8 Fords, to 50's era Studebakers,Packards, Hudsons, and antique Harleys run up the hill. You would be surprised how hard some people thrash their old cars. Seen quite a few split axles there on the starting line. And they always raffle an antique car the organizers restore. It's one of my favorite events. It is in Western Indiana on Highway 63 in the town of Newport, which is also famous for previously having the world's largest stockpile of VX nerve gas.
