In response to “Readers letter of the month” Jan 04 Issue page 17
Dear Mr. Bond:
By the way, does the “j” stand for j****ss? That is very possible considering you forgot one very important step, research. We can put $2,000 in a “Used Big Block” including price of purchasing the motor and end up with a motor throwing out 450+hp and 600 lbft of torque. How much money is required to pull that out of an import? The answer is simple; you will end up with losing more money than gaining rice. The “30 yr old pieces of junk” are pushing more hp stock than your “patty jumpers” are after dumping ungodly amounts of money into. So who is jealous of whom? As for our women, ours are obtained not purchased for silicone belongs on a gasket surface. If we sold our cars, we would still have our women. Your “event visit” slays me. Be advised a car show at a nursing home does not constitute a drag race. Events that “hot rodders” attend actually require your car be running not just your stereo and your mouth. The “fast man” in town does not hold his title by simply having $100k under his hood (most of which is spent on neon lights and the overcharging garage that installed them); his title was obtained by actually racing. Which brings me to my point, if your car runs as well as your mouth; I may be able to push my pedal half way down in a race against you. I Challenge you to a bracket race (your dad will thank me for his credit card will not have to get maxed out). If you actually have any friends we can even make it a team on team event. We are willing to race for bragging rights in the pages of “Car Craft” (titles are not an option for it is too difficult to sell an import this time of year). We would like the proposed name of the event be the “Car Craft Put Up or Shut Up Challenge”. We will be willing to race 1/8 or ¼ mile and rent the track for the day so as to minimize embarrassment on your part. Normally I do not even acknowledge such feeble comments so you should consider yourself ”import”ant. If you have as much spine as you do mouth and can pry yourself away from “the fast and the furious” and step into reality long enough the challenge can gladly be accepted at http://plumbcrazyracing.net .

Rice….it’s what’s for dinner. Imports…no one can eat just one.

I'm only 16, and have been reading car craft for a few years now, and I can only say that you have expressed my feelings bout that rice jockey completely. I know i have never seen a 2.0L pushing over 400 h.p. with out the aid of nitrous (N.O.S. is an abriviation for a company, not a word for all you illiterate import drivers) , supercharger, or a turbo. Shoot, never seen one push over 300 natural aspirated. Nothing beats the ease of raising horsepower numbers from a good ol' V-8. He can complain that V-8's are gas hogs, but I'd have to say that a majority of imports are. I have a 71' nova, 350, 4 barrel, turbo 350 tranny, and 3.08 gear, and it knocks down 16 m.p.g, and still has the balls to run his rice right off the road; and our camaro is getting 26 m.p.g, with a 305, and overdrive. Now i compare that the import we had, which was a 90' nissian stanza with a 4 banger and o/d, and its only managed 24 m.p.g, not impressive at all. As for women, I don't see guys driving old iron with out a woman riding shot gun. Silicon is for parts are made for toys, and I wouldn't have it any other way.
sincerly,
Brady Turley

What a lot of these guys don't realise about gas milage is that your engine's fuel usage is directly related to its torque production. A 1.5l 4 banger making 110 pounds of torque may get better gas milage than my 360, but if it had 400+ ft pounds I bet it wouldn't be all that much difference. I knew a guy once that had a Honduh Prelude, with a 2.0 CRV engine with a ported Integra VTech head, custom cams, ported intake, running 12 PSI through a turbo. Car put down something like 330 wheel horsepower, and guess what? He got 13 miles per gallon on average.
I've seen 4 cylinders push 300 horse naturally aspirated, and you can bet your ass they were't Japanese 4 cylinders. I saw a Ford 2.3 doing it and one Ecotec. I'd like to see one *** banger making 300+ NA Horsepower.
PS: I'm not old, fat or bald. Neither are the numerous other muscle car fans between 16 and 25 that I hang out with. Actually, the oldest muscle car guy I know is my dad, and he's not fat or bald either. And I think it's safe to say that some of the girls I've been with are better looking than the *** on Import Tuner's cover.

There is a guy in Tulsa OK with a 33 Ford, has been at the fall street machine nats for the last couple of years, with a small block chevy in it that puts 906 hp to the ground, he put it on the dyno last year. He DROVE it from Tulsa to Springfield MO (170 mi one way ) Gear heads that hve thier own money build cars like that not ricers. I didnt talk to the guy much but I will bet that car is not his daily driver, but could be driven daily if he wanted too. Let J. Bond show up at MOKAN dragway, someone will spank his ass and send him home to his momma, crying like a little girl..

Once at the local 1/4 our team captain had his high 14 second monte ss and was running in the street class as a bunch of ricers were runing the trophy class and running their mouths in a lesser class. My buddy asked the track owner to run in the trophy class as well and permission was granted. He won the trophy class event that night and not once was he under power past the 1000ft mark.

Face it, rice ain't got no class AND they ain't fast. We argue with em on the boards and the street all the time and everytime they make themselves out to be fools. Who could care what that mouthy little punk has to say? If he got in my face I'd just kick him to the curb. Hell 10 seconds ain't even that fast, check out the Haze at twinturbocharger.com from sacramento he's pulling sevens in street trim with an old 400 block. Rice is retarded (no offense to retarded people intended by comparing them to ricers).

Nope it was a 33 and it was a sbc and it was on the bottle, but still.... It was the purple over black one, with fenders, he had it on the dyno last year, I never did see him on it this year, he entered the burnout contest last year, and so did I, but niether one of us won.
