I sent in a pic of my 5,000 pound Bronco, lightin' em up at the dragstrip, spinnin both tires with adequate tire smoke and can't get in the mag. What gives? I mean, hell, I'm even a girl. It's got a built 429 that me and my dad put together. It spins both tires, what's not to like? There's no pleasing some people. They ask for burnouts. They ask for hot rod trucks. I oblige them with my hot rod truck doing a burnout and nothing. [I know it couldn't have been my theft deterrent paint job, judging by some of the other cars that get their burnout pic in there.] -melissa

I sent it back in February. ![]() After looking at the pic again, there's a shadow of a power pole going across the Bronco, so maybe that's the flaw that keeps it outta the mag.

I know how you feel, though I feel at a disadvantage being from scotland and having a ford capri (which is still V6 powered until I rebuild my 302). Still, with this much smoke I could make up whatever story I like about what's under the hood:

I've had a letter printed in HR. Been quoted in CC. My 65 Impala SS made the Anti-Tour articles two years running. And, I'm on pretty cordial relations with Doug Glad, Frieburger, John McGann and I have never gotten any kind of notification that any of this was going to be in the magazine. I usually find out from my friends who buy their magazines off the stand and get the mags two weeks before I get my subscription in the mail.
I read my the letter printed in HR while lying in a hospital bed. That's when I found out they liked what I wrote.
Great pictures.

I was in line, between tech and the PINKS promo tent for ALL OUT at LVMS, when some dude comes up and says, "This car has been in magazines, right?" Not that I know of, Car Craft took some pic's during the Anti-Tour back in April, but I hadn't seen or heard anything since. Then he rattles off some details that, well, was kinda creepy.
I had half a hope that it would still make print, when the red '63 Galaxy, that was also photographed at the Anti-Tour, appeared in the October issue. I never expected much more than a blip, something along the lines of a Readers Rides article. My wife found a copy at a grocery store that night. Needless to say, it made my weekend. Not all of the facts are correct, for instance, the race that they witnessed was a new best, 10.691 @ 125.90 with a 1.59 60' (I have since run 10.590 @ 129.62) and I never wrapped it around a pole, rather, I was the victim of a moron that blew through a stop sign. But I feel that the article did my car justice, I drove it to and from the track 4 times that weekend (my 7 year old had his first T-Ball game across town), never had to pop the hood (other than for the photo's), running 91 octane pump gas and MT ET Street Radials (16 psi). FWIW, they pegged me pretty well, too.

Nice, i was out at LVMS for Pinks too. I remember seeing your car there to. Looked good man. Id have liked to run there but im too slow . We were out there with friends and 2 GNs. one black (naturally) one that ran a best of 9.92 and a two tone one that bested at 11.20. so needless to say we werent in the high 10 finals. doh. maybe next year...
