Just purchased a '95 Pontiac Sunfire with a 3speed auto trans. Car shifts ok. Haven't done a lot of driving in it though. Just wanted to get some feedback on a question. I do know that the tranny fluid and filter needs to be changed. Would a shift kit be a good investment? Weather's changing so I would like to do it all at once if the kit is a good idea. The car has only 69 thousand and some change on the odometer. Would like a little advice before the chill!

I've never seen a shift kit for one of those, but that doesn't necessarily mean they don't make them.  A standard fluid/filter change would be a good place to start.  You mention the weather changing, if this is your daily driver and the weather is cold enough for snow and ice I'd advise against any shift kit that hits the gears too hard as it will cause traction issues between gears and for a FWD you would lose steering too.  A shift kit that shifts normally in drive and harder in manual mode would probably be alright.

What you most likely have is a TH-125. There are a couple of issues with these trannys, the kits I swear by are Superior Transmission Products shift correction kits.

If I were you, I would get the tranny powerflushed at a reputable shop. Just changing the fluid doesn't get all the bad fluid out of the converter and the cooler. Then I recommend using a synthetic fluid. For shift improvement give the guys at Dynamic a call 203-315-0138 and tell them Matt sent ya!
