Hey there, i'm new to this forum i thought i would say hi. My dad and I have a '72 chevelle, '71 camaro and '56 DeSoto (which HE paid for) I bought an '86 chevy c-10 lowered with an ls5 454
Today i had a poster due called "who am i" for sociology, so i did it about what i know best, classic and muscle cars because that's who i am. Well my teacher is all "You're only getting 50% because your poster is all about cars" and i was like "that's WHO I AM!" Does anyone else ever get the feeling that some people just don't understand?  

I can sympathize with you.  I collect rocks too (cars in the driveway, rocks in the house   ) but I have the excuse I'm a Geologist     For my public speaking class I gave a speeches about "Why Buick Engines are Better" and "Tectonic Processes" talk about a lot of dis-interested people    

You arent the only one man. People look at me weird when I get enthusiastic about a good leveling clearcoat or an RP Satajet.  

People who only see a car as a object for getting from point A to point B will never understand a car guy. We all have met people like that.

Lets look at your problem another way. Your Prof asked you to explain who you are. If all you did was describe the cars you have and didn't explain who you are; or why you feel the need to mess with these cars. Or, explain that when you see a wreck sitting in some yard and you don't see it how it is now. You see it how it could be if you had it and money.

I am a car guy, but their is a lot more to me. Sure my Impala says a lot about who I am, but it doesn't say everything. It doesn't show my values for my family and friends. Or how important they are to me. It doesn't show my work ethic. It doesn't say anything about my love for movies and interest in creative writing.  

I have to disagree, I think that my car says alot about how I value my family and friends. Namely, the lack of a roll bar and the presence of lap belts all the way around. This enables everybody the opportunity to share in the "hot rod" experience.

I drove my Chevelle, to high school every day, to my graduation, to tech school (UTI) in Phoenix, to and from my wedding, to my 10 year class reunion, both of my kids first experience in the outside world, came from the back seat of my Chevelle on the way home from the hospital, to my 20 year class reunion and this summer, to my 25th reunion. Not to mention the daily shuttling of kids between school, soccer, baseball, movies, etc...

It was a natural with my love of women, a sidekick, so to speak. Now I have to figure out how to incorporate it into my love of sports and motorcycles.  

I put a Pontiac Emblem on my Ninja Motorcycle to help merge the two.  There are some people out there that probably still think Pontiac made a Motorcycle, haha.  

silverbuick. I have noticed that buick motors appear to have thicker and heaver material around main caps and webbings in block. Am i right, or is there something else I do not know about?  carfulmechanic out.  Thanks for your reply.  

WHAT REALLY MAKES ME WONDER IS WHY SOME PEOPLE WHOM ARE'NT CAR GUYS,WOULD CARE TO BE SEEN IN A COOL MUSCLECAR. WHEN I WAS A KID [21YRS OLD] MY DAD WOULD STEAL MY 69 CAMARO JUST ABOUT EVERY SUNDAY MORNING. EVEN THOUGH HE HAD A BRAND NEW 454 CAPRICE.HE NEVER GAVE ME A REASON FOR DOING SO,BUT I FFIGURED THAT SINCR MY 69 WAS CUSTOM PAINTED, WITH CRAGAR S/S WHEELS ANA A 427BB THAT HE KNEW MY RIDE WAS A BABE MAGNET[IT WAS].HE LIKED BEING SEEN DRIVING IT.HE WAS 47 AT THE TIME.I'M 55 YRS OLD AND WHEN I WAS 47 I WAS WORKING ON MY 84 CAMARO .I WILL ADMIT I GET YOUNG LADIES CHECKING OUT MY RIDE.ONE YOUNG LADY ASKED ME , IF I WAS DRIVING MY SONS CAR.I LAUGHED SO HARD,AND SAID NO IT'S MINE. life needs to be divided up, like a pie

I know this post is old but cars should never be the only thing in ones life , there's so much more. When I meet sombody who only wants to talk cars, I think there's not much in there brain.   What is the correct order of priorities? Mine is   1/ God , 2/my children ,3/wife 4/myself, 5/ other family members, 6/friends & people of the world. ( you!) ,7/ my cars ,8/ environent

I care about all this, please note for me people come before cars. If you step out in front of my car , I'll swerve to avoid hurting you, not damaging my old car .
