I need a set of springs for a small Rambler American. I picked up a 64 American American body to build an AMC ProStreet car out of, but it has no front springs. It has already has been swapped to disc brakes from a Spirit. There are no coils in the front so I have nothing to measure and go by. I don't know if Gremlin or AMX springs will fit I need help!

Try Detroit Eaton Springs.

I have a 64 Rambler American 220 401 parts car.  I own a 67 Rambler American 220 232 six.  I don't need the front springs on my parts car, mine are in good shape.  I live in Modesto, Ca. If your still looking for them, I have them. Let me know, and we can work something out.

I am 95% confidant that all AMC's used coil springs with a 5.0" diamater, and that this diamater was used by no other American manufacturer. I believe that all AMC springs are interchangable because of this, but I haven't verified this personally

The springs on the front of all of the ramblers were universal, and stayed that for years. The entire front suspension design was used for several years, so that there should be no shortage of parts for your car.

The springs varied by weight of the car, e.g, whether the car had A/C or not and for the 66/later Americans, whether it had a V8 or not.  290 and 343 were available from 66/67 through the end in 1969.  390 was available in 1969.  If you want the correct springs, call a manufacturer like ESPO and tell them what power train you plan to Pro-street your car with.

andyman,

I know this is an old thread but do you still have that American parts car?  I could use the front coil springs off of it.
