Hey everyone.

Figured i might as well introduce myself here.

Im a 16 year old (yeah i know, i lied about my age to get onto thesse boards, big deal!) loyal CarCraft reader.

Im Also the owner of a 1989 Chevrolet Camaro Iroc-Z. Not just a plain iroc though, with a $4500 budget, and 10 months time, ive been able to do a good number to it.

Heres a bit of a starting summary:

Project goal: "7th gen camaro, 4th gen camaro, hiding under thirdgen skin)
Now it's not a completed project, but the interior of the project is nearly complete. And im VERY proud of it, its my pride and joy, so i like to show it off every opportunity i get.

History:
I bought my first car back in march of '06, and found it to be rotted completely. So dad and i headed down to NY to find a rust free car to bring back up to the great white north (yep, im also canadian    ) The car was a great project starting base, but needed some work. Paint was the usual burn clear, interior wasnt too bad, but still warranted some attention, drivetrain was mechanically sound, but i hated the look, and knew it could do better.

So, first thing i did was get into the modifications. Due to dads "restrictions" the tuned port 305 stayed in place.

Here's a list of what i can remember ive done to it:

Engine/Drivetrain:
LT1 Cam
Comp Vavle springs
Ported TPI plenum (by me)
De-screened MAF
Taylor ignition cables
MSD Blaster coil
Edelbrock Headers
Magnaflow Stainless catback (4th gen)
B&M Rachett shifter
LS1 Aluminum Driveshaft

Interior:
Dash out of a '95 Z28 (all guages functional)
Kaption audio 6x9's
Pioneer head unit
4th gen 6 speed console
4th gen seat set

Exterior:
Brand new bright rally red paint (painted by dad)
16" Iroc wheels
Falken rear rubber
Clear signals
Polished tail lenses

Bit of My background:
Im a 16 year old student, in grd 12, and working towards a degree in mechanical engineering. im the kid with the highest marks in all of my tech classes (though i do well in the rest also), im very good with welding, i know my way around a mill, or lathe. I work at TFI Aerospace, repairing forging machines constantly. The work done on my car was all done by me, except for the shooting the paint (i prepped the body), the wiring of the dash (i modified the body), and the actual sliding in of the cam. dad also helped me out with some know how when i got stuck here and there.

Definately an AMAZING experience building this car, adn im not done yet. Ive got a LT1 here that will go in over the winter, to get closer to my "4th gen in 3rd gen skin" deal.

As, im sure you would all like, a few pictures

Very cool Camaro. I really like the updated dash board. Never liked the 3rd gens dash. Very nice.

Please post some pics of you abusing the rear tires and contributing to air pollution.

Yo! wuzup I'm the other camaro kid down south in Florida. I figure since you have a third gen aswell I might as well introduce myself. I own a 1987 camaro Z28 305TPI 50,000miles rounded with original motor, original rims, lets say its pretty. the only mods I did was add a msd Blaster coil, MSD distributor, Ignition system, MSD High performance spark plug wires. I do think its cool to add 4th gen to 3rd, I think its interesting, its nothing I would do. So I wanta see how it turns out. I got my camaro my senior year in high school. Later

Hi. I really like the dash swap and am interested in doing this to my 92. Was it a bolt in deal or any major headaches involved (ducting, clearancing, mounting). Let me know.

- Dash Swap required 2 brackets be cut and bent (corner parts that hold the edge of the dash in). Drilled a few holes across the fire wall cowling and moved the clips. Had to do a bit of cutting to the 4th gen HVAC box, and other then that it was just wiring.

Was asked for some pictures of nature abuse. So, i took my younger brother out for a drive so we could abuse in the spirit of a true car guy
