I have a chance to get a volvo 122 free, if I go 500 miles to pick it up. Is this car front or rear drive, and if rear is it roomy enough for a v/8 swap? are the rearend, front suspension etc. strong enough? I am certain the newer one discussed elsewhere is up to the task, but I have only seen this car from 100 yards before it was put in storage in another state. Is it worth the trip?

Funny , i was just going to ask him for a pic.
Good thing that you added to your reply, and is not a bad looking car!
I will go fo it, and car craft style make it an odd street machine, who know's with enough tweaks he should be able to beat the car craft fireburp and make fun of them! I will pay to see that......![]()

You can fit a V8 in one of those older cars, and as a bit of a Volvo fan, I think it would be awesome. Go for it. Sure they stopped making 'em, but Oldsmobiles still rule. Rocket power baby!

Well, Ive decided to go get the volvo, it's in running condition now, so I may just drive it 'til I get used to these gas prices, but future plans are for an Olds 215 v/8, or the british version a rover v/8 . might have a hard time finding either of these in Wyoming though. Next question is where can I find the overall width of the 122-s? I have to borrow a trailer to haul it back on, and don't want to get down there with the one that is just 5 feet between the fenders and find out it wont fit, but also don't want to drag along more room than I need for fear the wife will find some keepsakes down there too.
