why dont they buy a real perfomance machine instead of a family car here is my question why start out with 85 horsepower stock when you can be smart and buy a car  with over 300 horsepower?

why have a car that looks fast but is slow. the ricer crowd would probably get more respect if they spent their money on going fast instead of shiny stuff. although i will admit their is some fast fast ricers out their. what i don't understand is why their is even import guys on this site.  why not stick to sites that have cars with 40ft pd @ 6000rpm.  i personally don't go to their sites to *** about their cars . anyway thats my say       long live the pushrod v8

You say half the weight and twice the horsepower? You better be able to prove that cause i dont think i've ever seen imports driving around or at the track that make 800 h.p. and and only weigh 1800 lbs.

I'll respond to thr topic, instead of the OP because it's totally a matter of preference.

I have a 70 Chevelle and a 95 Corolla -- The Chevelle is more fun to drive, and see in my driveway every morning than the Corolla - however, thanks to the ECU, the Corolla starts easily all the time, under all conditions -- However, there's nothing like tweaking on a Holley -- I can tweak an ECU too, but it's just not the same. The Chevelle gets thumbs-ups wherever it goes, and when my wife drives it every man she sees tries to pick her up -- not so with the Corolla. The Chevelle has faded and cracking paint, the Corolla has a factory clear-coat, but the Chevelle just looks better, even though it shows its age...

From a tech standpoint, the 1.6L Corolla has a lot of things that I wish I had on the Chevelle's 402, like overhead cams, 4 valves per cylinder, aluminum heads, and an ECU that allows the small engine to make 1 HP/ci. on cheap gas. I don't care too much for the 4 cylinder exhaust note, no matter what exhaust system it has, but the DOHC valvetrain sound I like, especially when wound up. The big block makes my skin crawl when it gets a buzzin -- I think it's the bore that makes it so gnarly, but I love it.

I don't think it's a matter of where it was made -- If you're really into cars it doesn't matter  -- it's just a matter of what you like to drive, and what you want to be seen in -- I'll take a Chevrolet with a big block every day, but that's just me.

It is preference.  If you like it, drive it.  But this is to those mullett wearing-wife beater harley davidson driving-think there bad boy-non-spelling - stuck in the eighties- pasp blue ribbon drinking dumbass's out there:  You just compared a 440ci motor and another big v/8 to a 2.4 DOHC motor.  Wow, scared at what a small motor can do.  I just witnessed a 97 Supra (3.0 v/6) with a single turbo, 6 speed daily driver pushing 758 rwhp beat the pants off of a 99 TRAILER QUEEN, NON-STREET LEGAL, TUBBED OUT CORVETTE pushing 900 hp! This happed at MEMPHIS MOTOR SPORTS PARK LASTNIGHT THE 15TH ON JUNE.  Dude spent all that money on  the LS6-SLP 427-nitrous fed big block in a car he can'y even drive to the gas station with.  The Supra guy just took off the 2 smaller turbo's and upgraded with 1 single turbo, and he can drive it anywhere!  So if you want to compare cars, do it right.    Another example, compare cars of equal performance:  2001 RX 7 and a 2002 Mustang GT, RX-7 faster in qtr mile, 2.3 LITER ROTARY!! vs. a 4.6 LITER 281!!  YOU DO NOT NEED A 1000CI, BIG ASS V/8 TO RUN FAST, TECHNOLOGY AND GOOD INTERNALS WITH A POWER ADDER!  KEEP IN MIND, LINGINFELTERS LAST CAR WAS A 2.0 VETEC MOTOR IN A NEW CAVILIER!  AMERICAN MUSCLE IS GOING AWAY.  No more F-Bodies, the new C-Body is design after the new F55 Ferarri, the Cobalt (that is derived from the KIA) is replacing the Cavalier, The Viper is deemed an exotic and is banned from all professional "American" motorsports except the D-1 Drift compitition, you know, the new sport GM is sponsoring.  Toyota and Nissan are both in NASCAR.  Toyota is re-releasing the Supra in 05, watch out Viper.  Nissan is finally releasing the SKYLINE to the US in May 05, watchout Corvette.  BTW, did you know that Ford tried to replace the Mustang with the Probe.  But the sales where not that hot because no one wanted the Probe which was a replica rip-off of the Nissan 240SX.  Everyone opted for the 240 because they are rear wheel drive, more hp, Independant Rear Suspension and had all four wheel disc brakes since 1987!!  Mustang did not even get all four disc brakes until 1994 when the SN95 was introduced!  Given the comparisons of car's and thier "in class compitition" or "import counterpart", I have come to a conclusion that dollar for dollar, cubic inch for cubic inch, there is no comparison.  Save money, gas and move along with technology.  The Dinosaurs are dead.  Minus the Viper and Corvette and the Cobra, North America hot rod performance is going to sport compacts.  Think about it, really.  The Corvette is staying, it is GM's Flagship.  The Viper is staying because it is the fastest production car in America.  The Cobra is truely the ONLY AMERICAN sports car that has remained the same until now.  And the new GTO, HA.., it has been in the D-1 Drift compitition since fall of last year, did you know that?  The public was able to buy them when?  Pontiac/GM are going sport compact, Dodge - Neon SRT4, Ford - Focus SVT.  And on top of that, the cars they are competting against are faster than they are.  Face it, its happening!  Next time you roll up in your Chevelle or Camaro with your 350 beside a 240 or a RX-7, and you have to struggle or if you  even completely blow off there doors, think about this - 5.7 liters (or what ever) against a NON-TURBO 2.4 liter motor.  Now that being sad, take a stock Chevelle or stock LT year camaro, that 240 or RX-7 would beat your ass.  I know from personnel experience a stock 96 LT camaro runs in the high to mid 14's in a qtr mile.  My 240 BONE ASS STOCK ran a 14.00 flat!!  Compare that.

The balance of your post was nothing more than a rambling diatribe.  Sounds like sour grapes from someone who's never owned or driven a legit American musclecar.

No doubting it... there exist some very quick imports out in autoland.  However, they're few and far between.

$hit, chickencock, you must be some Import, Domestic history teacher. Thats funny that you said the supra just upgraded to a single turbo. ya thats all he did was rip out the two turbos and dropped in one big one. a little more work and parts go's into it than just that. Whats the fastest true import E.T.?    I think it only pulls low 6's. Two full seconds slower than a bigblock record. sport compact like a box of crackerjacks. Lightweight small engine. Whin you put a go-ped engine on a rice bowl it is fast. AMERICAN MUSCLE IS GOING AWAY. NO EVEN CLOSE. As I have told you import trolls many times, it only took imports 30 or so years to catch up to dimestics. good for you. That toyota nascar thing, the engine is realy a chevy motor with miner changes. not shure about nissan. I got a 03' Cobra for 23 grand ripped out the stock blower dropped in a KB blower with a boost-a-pump and chip for $3500. Thats 620rwhp. over 700hp at the flywheel. stock indution and exaust. smog legal. Hows that for your dollar for dollar.

Allright, so one import beat a domestic.... must mean that all domestics are slow pieces of #### right? What does one race prove?  My friend beat an Eclipse GSX with his SBO powered cutlass.   SBO means smallblock olds if you're wondering chicken. Does that mean that BOP SB's are better than any eclipse because he won?  BOP means buick, olds, pontiac chicken.  Oh and by the way, that ls6 427 in the vette you were talkin about, that's a small block not a big block.  (making it a big block requires an actual bigger block casting, not just boring and stroking out something.)  What i'd like to know is why the hell you feel the need to come on an American Muscle board and pick fights?  The whole "domestic guys have mullets and beat their wife" is just as bad as the "all imports are slow".   And what's so bad about harleys?

"So if you want to compare cars, do it right."
how about this?  That turbo was probably pushing 32 psi to make that kind of power, meaning it needed race gas.  Did that vette need to run race gas?  Why don't you compare a turbo toned down to run on pump gas, to a blown, nitroused, or even turboed big block that also runs on pump gas.  It'll be a cold day in hell before that tiny motor makes more power.  Or would that not be fair, because the import motor isn't allowed the advantage of ridiculously high boost and race gas?

Why don't you just give it a rest, people each like their own thing.  I think imports are waste of time to build, but i don't go on import boards and *** at them for taking up space in Summit do i?  Go troll somewhere else, maybe somebody will listen.
