I'm interested in knowing the actuall difference between a 4L60E and a 4L60 trans.  I understand one is electronically controled, but basicly what i am wondering is if you can run a 4L60E with out electronic control i.e. vacumme or what not.  I'm planing a build for a s-10 with a 383 and would like to keep the overdrive.  truck is factory 4.3 vortec with 4l60E. But i'm old school and the ecm has to go, just cant deal with it.  Any help or info on the trans would be appreciated thanks

There is no vacuum module to control the 4L60E. A few places make stand alone transmission ECM controllers. I'd check Summit for one or find a different transmission.

The 4L60 (a 700R4)and the 4L60E are like units. The 4L60E needs the computer to shift properly though which is unlike the 700r4 that uses a TV cable to modulate the shifts.

yes the 4L60E has no govoner to hydraulicly control the shift points and no TV cable to control line pressure ,the "E" is a much better unit.but a stand alone controller is about as much as a custom harness for a full LT1 4l60e swap.
