I can't believe this. And you wonder why our hobby is dyeing. Its because of ignorant people like you. Learn to respect fellow auto enthusiasts. I'm not saying you need to love the cars they build but respect their choice to build their dream cars. Not everyone wants a camaro. And as for the fact that these "ricers" can't perform, I own a '92 3000 GT VR4. Its got twin turbos and all wheel drive, 320 awhp from the factory. It will take down alot of V8s. Unless you want this hobby to die you need to stop being close minded and be open to all aspects of the hobby. And for reference I am a die hard Mopar fan. I own 1971 Plymouth Fury 2dr triple blue numbers matching all original survivor. Grow up people.

i'm new to your site and so far have'nt attended any of your events so far bu intend to in the future if i can ever get my 84 camaro finished.but let the rice boys go to their own ricer shows. do you really need their attendence? in fact the only fwd cars i'd allow would be any early eldo, or toronado.as atleast the valve covers are rt and lft not turned sidways. no matter how good the ricers are i still say where are the ricers frm the 60'sand 70's. i live near detroit and still see detroit iron almost every day, most still looking have way decent

i will not drive a n import car my daily driver is a mercury grand marquis. but even it's not stock. i put an air filter kit, dual exhust, bigger throttle body ,and police car suspenion parts on it.i can take a 35mph curve at 60mph i've got kids so i had to sell my 87 mustang lx 5.0 my mercury loos stock except for bigger tires.it do'nt need my camaro for a daily driver, never did screw the imports. i dont care how good their supposed to be they are not cars they are like sn applience. same as a stove.imports have their own shows so be it .oh by the a close friend of my dearly departed mom knew marc moore a long hauler from l.a. he made the trip in 97 to mt clemmons mi. i had the pleasure of meeting him in jan 98 in n.hollywood

well, my thought is that i dont have a problem with front wheel drive cars. off the top of my head, the ford taurus s-h-o was manufactured as a wrong wheel drive. except for the first couple of production years that it was a 302 powerplant with rear wheel drive. if im wrong someone im sure will correct me. anyway the sport of drag racing is having to adjust to change like most things. an example off the top of my head is when the buick grand national rolled off the assembly line as a turbo v-6 and was being called the "corvette killer" im sure there are better examples, but to help keep drag racing alive, us v-8 purists may have to adjust because these newer generation racers with their imports and in some cases attitudes by showing up at the track help contribute to the popularity and bring in new fans. i am not an import tuner fan at all.
so long as they follow the rules and demonstrate good conduct, i dont see a problem with them racing at any event. i would rather they race at the track than race on the public streets and kill innocent people. being an emt/ff ive seen first hand the results of illegal street racing. besides, if they want to line up next to me and rev their little lawn mowers, let them. the only thing they will see is my tailgate (after they have recovered from the temporary hearing loss and the shock of my holeshot!!!!!!! it only fuels me to work on my truck more and make more power and torque. (see my post about my 512 cu. in. stroker rebuild help.

in an addendum to reapersmotorsports post- part of the issue with tuners is that if you have the cash, and a good engine plan you can make alot of power with an import tuner car. ive seen 500-600 hp come from those 4 cyl engines. combine that with the light weight of the car its a no brainer for fast et's. you cant line up a modified honda, or mitsubitchi next to a door slamming grocery getter made in the 60's that has a big cubed engine. the v-8 is clearly giving away 1000 lbs in weight easily. resulting in a great disadvantage. which is i think part of the reason why there are classifications for racing as well as open and outlaw. so to say that you got the holeshot and arrived first at the traps in your tuned up import over a v-8 in a run what you brung race doesnt say much. like i said in my first post, i welcome those that race imports, and i will line up next to them just so long as they are respectful of others and respect the tradition of drag racing. b-t-w i will give you thumbs up for being a mopar guy! nice fury!

final thought about import drag racing, instead of complaining about them, do something about it! work on improving your ride. drag racing isnt just hp and torque. finding the right combination that includes suspension mods and other things. to me, a wheel standing dart, or cuda is more exciting than an import that sounds like a chain saw. win, or lose the race, loud ear splitting wheel standing chargers of the 60's are what drew me to the sport in the first place.

if you wanna build it bring it.
it's all good.
not the biggest fan of imports, but who cares. nice cars are nice cars.
opinions are like *** we all got one.
run whatcha brung.
the more kinds of cars that are popular and being built, the more and better choices i have for my next one.
innovation rules.............

What it needs is a fingernail test.  Clean finger nails, no scars on your hands, go home .  A little grease under the finger nails, busted knuckles, come on in.  Another test could be to have a couple of crankshafts sitting at the entry gate.  One is cast, the other is forged.  If you can tell them apart you are also welcome.  Maybe you could do this with a flat tappet and a roller cam.  The point being that the show is about crafting cars and precious little else.

ok i love muscle cars as much as anyone else, but i drive a chevy cavalier Z24. i actually put money into my car and i think the car looks badass. i dont brag about who i beat or how big my engine is, i drive and show it and let ppl see what i can build. but everyone assumes that since i drive a cavy that i have a big *** can and a 2 foot spoiler and bought everything from autozone. NOT TRUE! i agree that yeah the honda boys are annoying and cocky and their cars sound like my weed whipper but their cars are pretty quick. i think that ppl with a primer honda with only a VTEC and intake and exhaust should have their own section... called the junkyard. lol

I am not a fan of imports either but it is time the muscle car crowd started getting more into power adders like turbos into the v-8s that is why every one thinks these piles are so much better if you could get 40 pounds of boost into your lawnmover it would be over 100hp just 8 pounds in a small block will destroy most any 4 or 6 banger running 40psi you can put a 3,000 dollar kit from sts on a stock plan corvette and pull 9's my next engine will be a lsx with fuel injection and twin turbos bring on the supras you will see there is no replacement for dispacement I say it is just time more of us move up in technology with our american muscle and I do not mean to offend anyone I have built alot of engine but we can now run in the 8's and 7's with our v8's and still get over 20mpg now that is carcrafting
