this year was still a good year at Car Craft but ever year more and more FRONT WHEEL drive cars and air bag or hydraulic cars are comming into the shows. the BIG trucks that come into the show I have no prob with b/c those guys are actually building quality trucks, the front wheel drive cars such as the red avenger this yes was show casing his stereo!!sorry wrong show buddy.back to the fifties really limits what cars are allowed,CAR CRAFT NEEDS TO DO THIS!!the poll is this:
should front wheel drive cars be allowed? NO!
should air bag or hydraulics cars be allowed?? these are the cars pumping up and down all wkend long scrapping the roads throughout the fairgrounds. NO !

I AGREE TO A DEGREE FRONT WHEEL DRIVES ARE ALRIGHT BUT THE EXCESSIVE STEREO CRAP GETS ANNOYING AFTER 30 SECONDS OR SO.  I WOULD SAY IF ITS A QUALITY BUILT FWD THEN ITS ALRIGHT BUT SHUT THE *** STEREO OFF!  LOW RIDERS ARE KIND OF INTERESTING MAINLY A WASTE OF SOME NICE CARS BUT NO SCRAPING UP THE ROADS NO ONE CARES HOW LOW YOUR CAR  GETS WHILE DRIVING OR HOW MANY WHEELS YOU HAVE OFF THE GROUND.  BIG TRUCKS ARE NICE BUT CAN BE ALMOST AS ANNOYING AS THE OTHERS LAST YEAR I HAD A PROBLEM BECAUSE SOME GUYS BIG ASS TRUCK HAD PROBLEMS FITTING THROUGH THE ROAD BETWEEN THE CARS NO ONE ELSE HAD A PROBLEM GETTING THROUGH.  IF YOUR TRUCK IS TO BIG GO HOME, IF YOUR CAR IS TO LOW GO HOME, IF YOUR STEREO IS MORE EXPENSIVE THEN YOUR RIDE YOU SHOULD BE SLAPPED AND THEN SENT HOME.

Olds Toronado's are FWD and those rock.  So that blanket rule is out.  I think a car craft event should be highlighting "vehicles" for how they drive. Straight line, cornering, the fact they are even on the road (because they are old/rare/expensive) would be the qualifiers.  Stereo's are mostly irrelevant features and definately second to how the car/vehicle sounds so shouldn't be a primary reason to show a car.  Trucks that are built up but never see a real heavy duty or four wheel drive use to me fall into the "Trailer Queen" category as they are never driven/used in the capacity they are being shown as, so then I'd knock those out too.  I don't mind imports showing up for events if some serious modifications have been made to them and they actually perform like the owner claims (i.e. timeslips) and they don't just sit there revving their engines with neon lights on.

These would be rough guidelines I'd use if I were to host an event.

I say keep out all snobs, whiners, moaners, and uptight dickheads. Also, keep out those elitist bozos that think they are better than other people because the car they drive. Let in only those people who want to have a fun weekend around fun guys and gals with cool cars.

I say don't allow the dynomax challenge to come back because of the tasteless disqualification of Carl Finney!

Cars that have no business being at a Car Craft show, which I would say promotes true  American muscle and steel, should not be allowed at all...let them cruise Larpenteur.  Honda, Acura, Toyota, Kia, Subaru anything should not be allowed at all.  No one who goes to Car Craft wants to see these cars anyway.  They have their own rice fests where they can show off all their stereos and cool LCD monitors and neon lights.  My Nova doesn't even have a radio in it because the CAR is too loud.  I don't have a problem with the air ride guys...but at least do it with a degree of taste.

I want to see a ZL1 Camaro not an RSX Riceroni cookie cutter car with a stereo and a really shiny coffee can exhaust pipe.
Keep it American.

I have gone to Car Craft for the last 2 years, and this year decided to show my 1999 Mitsubishi Eclipse.  I recieved alot of good coments on the looks of my car as it has a nice paint job, body kit, etc.  The only bad comments I seemed to hear were "Ricer", "Rice", but nothing on the actual condition of the car.  Oddly enough, the only thing those people could point out was that it was foreign.  I thought Car Craft was supposed to be about building a great car and showing it off. Now it seems to be more about whether or not your car is American made and how much horse-power you have.

Dont get me wrong, I enjoy checking out a well-done Mustang, Charger, etc., but its nice to see anything that is custom and somebody has stuck alot of time and effort into.

As to keeping to our own shows:

Its not like we have alot to pick from.  Most of the 1 day events are all Classic car shows, and the few big ones we do get, we still end up seeing Ford Fusions, new Mustangs, and the like.  Hot IMPORT Nights even has classes for Domestic cars.. What a novel idea...

Stereo noise:
I dont enjoy hearing somebody thump their system all day long, but its no different than hearing an El Camino roll through and rev their engine the entire lap...

As for Trucks, Hydraulics and all the other stuff:
If somebody has a car/truck/whatever that looks nice and is show-worthy, let them in.  Its something different to see, but they obviously put enough time into building it up.  What you think of it is your opinion, but dont force your thoughts on everybody else..leave that to the politions...

Yeah but the sound of a V-8 is sweet music to the soul compared to the sound of 99% of 4 cylinders is like nails across a chalkboard and stereo's that play music that most of us (so I believe) don't generally listen too is equally unappealling.  I know on the weekend I pick the car I drive most the time just to hear the purr of a big block.

Do any of the rice-box owners actually read Car Craft? 'Cause if they did, they'd notice that there are NO ricers as projects/features/anything else. They have their mags: Super Street, HIN, DSport, etc. So go rant on THOSE forums, and talk crap at THOSE car shows.

I can count on one hand the number of Imports that can actually perform as good as the Bull their owners seem all to willing to spew (specifically, Geoff Racier's cars).

Apparently you don't read Car Craft very often if you think it includes 99 Eclipse's.  Don't get me wrong, my roommate last year had a 2001 GT...fairly nice car...but definitely not Car Craft material.  And all you listed was paint, body kit, etc in this post...if you pay much attention to Car Craft...one of the last things they worry about is how a car looks...its more important (in Car Craft's eyes) how a car runs.

That said, I personally don't care who shows up.  Annoying people can come with all kinds of cars...though it seems the most ignorant are of the Fast and Furious crowd.  Put a lot of work into your car...great.  I'm happy for you...glad you like cars...feel free to show it off.  But if a cruise is specifically for old cars...stay out.  Same as muscle cars should stay out of street rod shows and NOPI porn fli- I mean car shows... .  For shows with everything...I really don't care who shows up as long as its divided by class so I don't have to walk by the Fast and Furious wannabe's to get to the cool cars.

DO NOT COUNT OUT IMPORTS....a couple of things 1)I HATE IMPORTS and 2) the reason why i dont count them out is at car craft this year a man by the name Tony Wilke had a 91 golf with an engine swap from a 2004 vw R32 with a turbo Yes front wheel drive but it made 480 WHP and is still completly streetable....this isnt a 4cyl either i have personally seen this vehicle waste a viper SRT 10 a corvette ZO6 and  a SVT Cobra insanely sick car
