Hey guys i need some help.
I just got a 66 Rebel, granny fresh. In order to get plates, an inspection is required where i live (in Ab,Canada). The inspection shop will not pass the brakes.
The front drums can not take another turning, and I have been unable to track down any replacements. I'm under the impression that no other models' parts are compatible. I did a disk brake conversion on my 69 beaumont and thought a similar kit would solve my problems. i cant find one anywhere. im also on kind of a budget, if possible, as this is just a cruisin car (the Beaumont is my performance build). I just want to pass the inspection and make it safe. If anyone has any suggestions.....

Dont quote me on this but I think front rotors calipers and spindles from amc concordes and late gremlins and hornets will bolt right on. Go scrap yard hunting its fun!!!! Grab the prop valve too if you dont feel like buying aftermarket good luck.

I'm still looking for brakes for this car. The 66 Rambler Rebel is turning out to be more rare than i thought. If any AMC fans out there know of any parts interchangabilty for this car, or any aftermarket support please let me know. if you know anyone with good used parts, or if you even know anyone familliar with this specific one-year-only model, I'm having a rough time finding a solution to this problem.
I had a machine shop modify a pair of chrysler 9" drums (at considerable expense), but the backing plates are slightly warped. aggressive braking feels like it'll shake the car appart.
I would like to find good stock drum brakes, or I'm willing to try any type or make of disk brake spindle that will fit the stock suspension. (or even drum brake spindles i suppose).

I have a set of 9-inch drums and freshly bead blasted front backing plates obtained from a 65 American. I don't have the factory service manual for the 66 Rebel/Classic but if it has 9-inch drums with two inch wide shoes, these drums will fit. At any rate, i think the backing plates will work for you.
