Has anyone ever seen/made/heard of a mid-engine El Camino?
Seems feasible. You might need to use another car's transaxle to shorten the distance between the rear end and the engine. It would have a nice weight distribution, too.

I seen one with a blown BBC in the bed. I think it was a wheely car. Wheely car have serious weight transfer.

Yeah, I remember seeing someone put parallel V8s in the bed of a truck.
I'm looking to do something a little more race-worthy, so I won't want a lot of added weight from driveshaft inversions. It'll also need to stand up to a half hour or so of racing.

Yeah baby, they're butt-ugly. That's what makes them so beautiful.

Haha. Maybe. I just stole the original from maddox.xmission.com.
Anyway, I'm really liking this mid-engine camino idea. It would be frigging brutal. The weight distribution is perfect.
I think some of the kit-car guys have ways of mounting Chevy engines to Porsche or C6 transaxles.
If only I could get everything to fit under a deck lid... maybe I can use a moon manifold with Weber carbs? No, crap. You'd want to do an LS engine with the low-profile intake. Unless you're broke, which brings me back to square one.
