While I'm always happy to see an Olds (with an actual Olds engine) in the magazine, and I realize this isn't Muscle Car Review, the "66" 442 W-30 in the May article about the Forge Invitational show is actually a 1967. The easy way to tell is that the 66 W-30s all used the L-69 tri-power engine as the base (it's not "L-89" - you got that wrong too). The 67s used a single Q-jet. The copper-colored car in the background of that photo is a real 1966.
1967 was also the first year for the red plasic inner fenders (66s got normal metal ones). Also, you'll note the scoops on the 67 are above and below the parking lights. On the 66 they're mounted in the bumper since the grill is different.
Only 54 W-30s were factory built in 66. In 67 the number mushroomed to 502.

Yea - I caught it too. The picture is of a 67. I did notice the copper colored one in the background which probably was the L-69. Too bad they didn't get a picture of it as they are great to look at.
