I have several car projects on hand with v-8's and inline 6's.....so i have decided to go a totaly different direction for my model ***
It's a 1926 model T touring...the body was dug out of a ditch a few months back and sat a friends shop for a while......he lost intrest in it and i would up tradeing for it......it is fairly complete only missing ft doors on the main body.......picked up a 1925 or older T frame for it from my inlaws new place.....(it had been used as a clothes line since the 60's) so that is my starting point...going to replace some of the basic body parts...and use fiberglass fenders (LA. state law.....have to have fenders dang it).......running boards......hood and grill on it....now for the odd part....
going to make it rear engine powered... motorcycle engine powered.......i have had given to me to get started two motorcycles......one 1976 suzuki gs400 (34hp) all most complete....on the engine the top end is locked up but bottom half looks good with no rust(has points ing)....and cut up frame 1980 suzuki gs 450 (44hp) with bad wireing harness(has electronic ing).....going with larger engine later on but for now this will get me rolling......my problem is with my rearend choices.....one i have planned out and have no problems with(this is your standard solid shaft gear driven rear with no suspension travel in the rear) the other is useing a s-10 rear end i have on hand......to use this rearend since this is chain driven and not shaft drive bike (yes i know they make a conversion box but they are too much money).....i would have to tranverse mount the engine next to the rearend and put the rear sproket on the mounting yoke....the rear sproket i have will mount up to the rearend yoke so no machineing will have to be donethere.....i would gain regular drum rear brakes but presents a couple of issues to think about.........

one is oiling.....under normal conditions this would be fine...but i don't know where the oil pick up is located on this engine so heavy acceleration/brakeing would move the oil but would it move it so it would cause a oiling problem....

Number two problem.....with my current sprocket size that would create a double gearing issue....depending on the gears in rearend.....it could also be used for my advantage since i am useing the stock 6 speed trans....would probaly need a little more gearing to get it rolling right...

it is just going to be a little toy....and to take on a few short trips to town..been wanting to do this on a 26-27 rpu but this body came along so i am useing what i got......i know it doesn't have a reverse....i think it is nothing a little creative parking and thinking ahead won't solve.....with everything i have the max weight with driver will be around 1200 lbs....

....the engine is air cooled so a scoop under the car should be enough..... as a back up been thinking about useing a electric fan for slow traffic...for my alternator i have it narrowed down to two different ways.....belt off a sold axle rear pully or use a old S belt tentioner on one side of a alternator...solid mount the other side...remove the pully and add a gear....and presto a combo alternator bracket and chain tentioner....

any ideas/more questions/on this been planing this on paper for a couple of months now.....have 3 more weeks offshore before i go home....wanting to start frame up on it when i get in..... drop a line here or email me at model40-770@hotmail.com and tell me how crazy i am..

...sprint guys have been useing this basic set up (well the sold rear anyways) for years..it would be no different than running a spooled rear on the street....wanting to use tall skinny tires to help cut down on traction in the turns.......

any sprint guys out there to tell me how they like there set up....???
