I was reading in super chevy about GM building their new LSX motor. They made a 454 out of it using a shorter stroke and bigger bore to get more RPM out of it. Can I do that to a regular production 454? I would like the extra rpm. I also read that the LS7 gained 35 h.p by using bay-to-bay breathing. Anyone know what that is?

What are you using your gen-1? 454 for? In other words why do you want more rpm's?

well, I have been debating on what I want to do with my car. I think i've finally decided against a full on race car. Im going with a 5 speed, high gears, new stub-frame with rack&pinion steering, ect ect. Im wanting some rpm because Im looking for more top speed and big blocks spinning hard sound awsome. Id like the peace of mine that when Im swinging above 6 grand that nothing is gonna break. Yes, its a gen-1 block.

There is no doubt that any big block spinning high r's is music to the ears.

Here is the perfect article for you except the wrong stroke. Either way I think you will get the gist of what needs to be done: http://www.popularhotrodding.com/tech/0704phr_chevy_big_block/

ah, i get the idea. A little less stroke than I want, but I think the bore is the right size. I just wonder if anyone makes the right size crank.
