That's some ridiculous dialogue, Man.
Do you really think the factories design in faults so that the dealer service departments will get more business?
I don't know why anyone would build a T-bird when a '78-87 Grand Prix is so sweet when fitted with GENUINE PONTIAC POWER (No corporate bow tie engines)

As an ex-many dealer tech, I can believe it. I've spent countless hours on the phone with tech service advisors and engineers, they couldn't find they're ass if they're heads were in them.

I've noticed it's hard to work on a car over the telephone. But I hear ya!

Yes, Thunderbirds are cool as well as the Cougars, but *please* do not put it in the mag...if it becomes too popular, then I can't be "different" anymore...keep this on the "Down low" >.>

If the T-Birds ever get too popular, you could get the same year Cougar with the straight back window. Another option is the Lincoln LSC.

To answer the original question, I say yay on the birds. But don't forget the other forgotten Foxes - the Fairmont, Zephyr, Granada, etc.
I'm building a '83 Fairmont Futura. My car has a Mustang 8.8 rear with rebuilt posi and 4.10 gear, built C4 trans, and a '87 Mustang 302 with forged pistons. I went with a carb (performer intake & Holley Street Avenger) for simplicity's sake, but injection may come later. The car also has t-bird turbo coupe sway bars, fresh KYB shocks, and Ford Racing lowering springs.

I have a clean aero-bird near my house , 83-86 Million Dollar Bill style. You know when he was THE Ford man before he switched to Moments Of Power Are Rare. anyway if I did not have my 82 GT Mustang and 67 Falcon I would be all over this car, V-8 equipped already and asking $1000.00 or best offer, has been there a year at least. Cannot go wrong with that . Oh and this style Birds make those previously mentioned Indians look lame .

I agree that there should be a T-bird build up. My mom has a 94 T-Bird with a (i think it is a dohc 4.6) V-8 and posi. its all stock and it is pretty fast for a factory car. I would like to see what you could do to those engines to unlock more hp.

loads of potential for that car. unfortunately it seems like car craft wouldnt touch the tbirds with a 10foot pole. I think that they should just slap a chevy emblem on the grill of one and build it. (that way they wouldnt be so reluctant to touch it) Now I am not trying to incite ford v. chevy rioting, just saying that CC's project cars are almost always chevys or at the very least chevy powered. I realize that they will feature amc, ford, mopar, etc in the mag, but look at the cars they choose as a project that everyone can follow step by step. Jake and Elwood (2 chevys) (technically only one for CC), Project malibu, Frieburgers chev powered firebird, disco nova, etc. I'm sure they have done a ford but I really cant recall how long ago that was. I would let slap a big 'ol goofy 4ft wide chevy sticker in the backwindow with that cheesy chevy thunder caption in it, if that is what it takes. I agree they wouldn't go near the t-birds. Im not a ford fan anyways, its just fun floggin the car. (When my parents are gone). One time I was driving the car up my driveway with a fence on the right side, and i floored it and manually shifted it into second at 6,000 rpm and the car fishtailed (a really dumb thing to do on a partially gravel road) 180 degrees and the car headed straight for the fence. Luckily i got the car under control and i came out with just a few minor scratches.

They make a new "Retro" one though it's a bit more of a car for older women over priced and slow. As far as the Fox bodied ones I'm not sure of any years that were to be avoided but some of them were a bit akward looking. It depends on your personal preference. The turbo coupe is pretty neat, Ive never actually known some one who owned one so I have only seen them, so I do not know if the hood vents on the TC are functional, but I'm sure some one will cover that. I would really like to see the Turbo 6 vs the 5.0.

The '87-'88 Turbo Coupe hood scoops are functional. They feed cool air to a top-mounted intercooler (similar to an '84-'86 Mustang SVO). However, a larger front mounted intercooler is more efficient on modified cars.
Too bad the Cali emissions Nazis won't let GLAD-MAN and Co. plug in the JY turbo 5.0 engine into a Fox Body Thunderbird . . . .
