Just thought I'd open this one to no one inparticular.
I have a '72 Centurion Convertible 455 that weighed in empty at 5012lbs with 2.93 peg leg that managed a 15.58sec in the 1/4 with lots of tire spin and in second crossing the line.

The Silver Buick is a 1977 Skylark (my first car) that I just set a 455 in with a TKO-600 behind it. I haven't started it yet but it has slightly more compression and a slightly bigger cam than the Centurion. Hopefully I'll have it going for the Anti Tour

hah!

my friend has a 72 Centurion drop-top with a 455...it does rockin' single-legger burnouts with the bias-plys! Nice to know it's a 15 second car! Hope to see you on the Anti-tour!

If my Skylark isn't ready in time and I have the days off work I'll probably bring down my '67 T-bird since I haven't had it to the track.
Yeah that Centurion has severe traction issues, chirps the tire going into second at 45+mph.  And to go on more about it, by empty I mean the gas gauge was pegged on E and I was not in it and it still weighed over 5000lbs.  Took the car to a certified scale right after I left the track cause I had to know.

I think buicks are cool personaly.  I'd love to have a '70-72 GS455.  That skylark sounds like it'd be a fun car.

My dad had a 69 2/25 with a 430 which I turned into my first Enduro car and a 65 Wildcat with a nailhead.. I love big tri shield torque.I'd like to build my own version of a kit Cobra  with my own body style of course and use big Buick power. Which is only like 30 lbs heavier than vannilla SBC. Since I am talking about a fantasy I'll tow it to sports car races across the country with a big 69 Deuce, just like Dads. Riding in style with some James Brown playing on the stereo. Pimpalicious.

Small update on my Skylark,

Got the trans tunnel in.  I am going to install new carpet shortly after I'm driving it, priorities   I threw a bad picture of my dash cluster in for the heck of it too.

They were taken with my camera phone so they aren't the greatest, but you should get the drift.

Cool, I'd like to see some pictures of what others are doing with Non-Chevy X-bodies.  I saw a '78-'79 Skylark with an Olds small block in the junkyard, when I saw that I knew that my 455 would fit like a glove. Thank you Oldsmobile.

Finally started my Skylark this weekend! It sounded great (very loud). The apartment maintence guy who was working across the complex showed up afterwards saying "So I heard you got it running, literally Heard".  Right now the exhaust is poorly piped through the single restrictive six-cylinder exhaust and small glass pack but that will change, the first trip it makes will be to an exhaust shop.

Sadly though it didn't make it through the 20 minute break in Five minutes in it ran out of gas!  We were worried about the quality of gas (it's been about a year) and something was up with the dash cluster's electronics (bad ground somewhere) so I wasn't sure how much fuel was in there, but I least I don't have to worry about siphoning and disposing of a bunch of bad gas.  Due to time and other obligations I haven't gotten back to it with some good gas, but I hope to soon.

LOL...

That sounds just like a gear heads experience...running out of gas trying to break in a cam.

Congrats on getting it started!  Always a great day in any project.

hey all, the silver buick!... I would like to talk to you. I have a 76 skylark which is my first car and it has been sitting in my storage unit for 8 years now, Now that my 800hp turbo'd mustang is functioning I want my buick back in a functioning state. The car is a very nice hunter-green metallic color, and the black interior is almost done... however my car too came with a 3.8l and I was dropping in a 455/th400 out of a 76 electra with 70k miles on it... only problem is the passenger manifold wants to hit the firewall and no matter what frame pads I use with the 455 motor mounts the engine just seems to sit too high in the engine bay and does not please me.  I am a mechanic for a living... I do not want a screwed up looking engine bay and I want something simple to work on. If you have some pointers or some pics as to what exactly you di it would be a huge help... If I can get some direction...I'll have the car running in hours.  I was going to get rid of all my big block stuff and build a twin turbo'd grand national motor for the car... because I really hate carbs... right now I would settle for anthing that functioned and looked good... I'll shoot you a pm with my phone number...I'd really like to talk to you... or just give me a call and i'll call you back... oh...your car is awesome man... I love the powertrain combo... I'd bet with the tall overdrive that sucker pulls down about 18-20 mpg too.

I haven't really road tested it yet. But I hope for more than 25mpg.  My goal is to get at least 500 miles to a tank (25+mpg) on the open road so I don't have to stop in Vegas on my way to Southern California.

The ET is a great indication that the 455 is in great shape and producing really good torque, given that all is true and correct.Read my thread about estimated Hp for a 455> I've listed a greatt CC article about a very impressive 455 ride.A side note ( I know you hate these) a 3,300lbs mild 360 mopar, dizzy cap not correctly on and discover the hand brake is also partially(enough) on after the ET of course with a 2.77:1 open wheeler and 13.7sec timeslip seeing 7,000rpm gear changes and well under crossing the line.
